The university provides a platform for evidence-based, high-quality research in various fields with an emphasis on themes relevant to developing countries. Most of the research carried out within the university is undertaken through the 8 approved interdisciplinary research centres. These interdisciplinary research centres are hosted under Faculty of Information (FIT), Strathmore Law School (SLS), Strathmore Business School (SBS), Strathmore Institute of Mathematics (SIMS), School of Tourism and Hospitality (STH), School of Humanities and Social Sciences (SHSS) and Strathmore Institute of Management and Technology (SI) serving as the professional training arm of Strathmore University whose mandate is but not limited to professional courses in accountancy, information technology, management, entrepreneurial skills, enhancing teaching and management skills, and other emerging areas of interest in technical and vocational education and training. All research works in these schools/ faculties fall under Research and Innovation which is one of the strategic pillars of the university since Strathmore University is a center of excellence in teaching and research. This is enhanced by providing facilities and support for innovative research and extension services by forging academic partnerships and links with other academic institutions, the professions, and the industry.
