Africa’s sustainable future depends on more than innovation. It depends on enabling policies that work hand in hand with communities to secure the resources that sustain life — water, energy, and food.
On 17 September 2025, ONEPlanET will convene policymakers, civil society actors, and practitioners for a high-level dialogue exploring how Africa can build resilient, inclusive, and future-ready Water–Energy–Food (WEF) systems.
This virtual convening, titled “Policy and Civil Society Synergy: Enabling Frameworks for Sustainable WEF Solutions”, will unpack how integrated policy design, inclusive governance, and grassroots innovation can align to accelerate sustainable transformation across the continent.
What to Expect
🔹 Integrated Policy Design and Implementation
Exploring how harmonized WEF policies can break sector silos and enable coordinated planning and resource management.
🔹 Community-Driven Innovation
Showcasing how local initiatives and civil society leadership are translating lived experiences into policies that influence national and regional strategies.
🔹 Inclusive Governance
Discussing how frameworks can ensure that women, youth, and rural communities have meaningful representation in WEF decision-making processes.
Why It Matters
Africa’s interconnected challenges in water, energy, and food security demand systems thinking and collective action. Fragmented approaches can no longer deliver the resilience, equity, and sustainability that communities need.
This event is not just another policy discussion. It is a space where new pathways are being forged — grounded in collaboration, innovation, and inclusion.

Africa cannot afford to address its most pressing challenges in isolation. This is where knowledge meets action, and where policy meets the people it is meant to serve.
